The first time you meet Seth Witcher, you’re inspired.
A local musician from the Lehigh Valley, Seth has appeared on television and won awards for his performing and songwriting. He was a headliner at Valley House Media’s 2019 music festival Valley Fest, which was held just before I joined the team, so I never had the pleasure of meeting the up-and-coming artist. I was excited to meet him and see what the talk was all about.
Seth Witcher is committed to making everyone he meets feel a little bit better for having met him. When you speak, he gives you his full attention. He wants to shake your hand and he wants to learn your name. He has this winning smile that he’ll take any excuse to put on. If you do something for him, he can’t express gratitude enough - he must have thanked us twenty times for taking the time to interview him. If his actions don’t make it clear, he’s also not shy about saying it - he sees it as his mission to spread positivity and love in the world.
We spoke to Seth for almost forty minutes straight, making it the longest interview we conducted for ADAPT 2020. He provided his perspective on a variety of issues plaguing our society in 2020 - being a performing musician in a worldwide pandemic, being a black man in a time of civil unrest and police brutality, and being a force for kindness in a time of great division.
In addition to his interview, Seth took the time to play some original songs for us. I’d listened to his music before the interview to be prepared, but once I heard him live, I became a fan. Seth blends simple and delicate musicality of acoustic artists like Ed Sheeran with the emotional rawness of his icons, Juice WORLD and XXXTentacion. He believes that by writing songs that are catchy and hook-laden, but with soul-baring lyrics, he’ll encourage more honest and healthy emotional expression in his listeners. This shared vulnerability, in Seth’s view, will lead to more love in the people he reaches.
Since this interview, Valley House Media has gone on to develop a continuing partnership with Seth. We’ve been serving as his social media management team since September. We also have some upcoming projects with him that I can’t discuss just yet (which sounds super cool to say). He’s been a pleasure to work with and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow as a creator.
Seth really believes he’ll change the world. And I do too.
Catch our full interview with Seth, which covers these topics and more, this Friday on valleyhousemedia.com/adapt2020 or on our facebook page at facebook.com/valleyhousemedia.
